art opening and artist talk 7:00 pm
musical performance 8:30 pm
Join us Thursday, July 13th at 7pm to celebrate the opening of Veins / Listen / Cul-de-sac. During her creative research residency, inter-disciplinary artist Rita McKeough has supported and extended her exhibition titled Veins, with two new installations: Listen, and Cul-de-sac. Collectively, these installations offer an immersion in a landscape where the paradox between a healthy natural world and human systems of capitalism, production, consumption can be contemplated.
McKeough, a Calgary-based audio, media installation and performance artist, will be giving an artist talk at the opening to discuss her work. Following the talk will be a musical performance by Birch in the CVAG Project Room Studio. Throughout the run of the event, visitors are also encouraged to take part in the Make Art Project: Making Art from ‘Un-Making’ Electronics.
Birch are a trio of musical seekers, featuring Jessie Gentes, Scott Bertram, and Destann Lundquist, who weave free-improvisation and rhythmic structure to search out oblivion through sound.
