NO BURDEN

NO BURDEN

Chrystal Phan • Lindsay Katsitsakatste Delaronde (Kanienkehaka) • Christian Yves Jones

This program explores all the resulting messy politics, memories, and emotions that arise when cultural identities are foregrounded in art.

Cultural identity… Its shaping influence can become a heavy burden and responsibility for BIPOC artists. It can be a pigeonhole. But it can also be a niche, a great opportunity, a political act, a positive grounding force and a call to express a unique or underrepresented artistic perspective.

EXHIBITION: January 25 – March 22, 2025

ART OPENING + ARTIST TALK: Saturday, January 25, at 1:00pm (All are welcome)

The Comox Valley Art Gallery is committed to creating safer spaces where everyone can participate.
