Everybody Deserves A Smile (EDAS) is an international arts-based project locally hosted by Ecole Puntledge School. Hand painted gift-bags created by students of participating schools in the Comox Valley are filled with donated wool toques, mitts, neck-warmers, socks and toiletries and given to those in need at Christmas. Several locations throughout the valley display the students work as a way of educating the wider community about the homeless and for inviting donations to this compassionate outreach.
November 25 – December 9, the Community Gallery at the Comox Valley Art Gallery displays the creations for the EDAS project made by the Ecole Puntledge Grade Five Classe De Mme McLaughlin/Mme Coustalin and Mr. Swaney’s Late French Immersion 7 class. Each hand-painted bag will be filled by the students at the end of the donation period, then distributed to those in need. Donations to this project are gratefully received at the gallery’s HUB/SHOP:MADE reception counter.
