ART OPENING – Public | All Ages | Free Event
Come to CVAG on Friday, September 27, to view work created during the first artist residency series at Wachiay Studio. Several residency artists will be in attendance from 5:00 – 8:00pm. This event coincides with the third Pulse in the Plaza event from 5:00 – 9:00pm.
As part of the residency organized by Emily Thiessen, Wachiay Studio’s Community Art Coordinator, six community-based artists from around B.C. spent a week immersed in the screen print medium. Luke Ramsey from the Sunshine Coast and Rachelle Antoine from K’ómoks First Nation were the first artists in the studio. They were followed by Amanda Hugon and Facundo Gastiazoro, who are part of Raven Tacuara mural collective in northern B.C. The final artist pair, Shauna Kiesman and Danika Saunders, are longtime friends who met at Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art.
The exhibition will be on display at CVAG from September 27 – October 26.
The Comox Valley Art Gallery is committed to creating safer spaces where everyone can participate.
