Re.search looks at exhibition making as a community of practice, gathering together the creative inquiry of ten visual artists/art educators/researchers affiliated with the North Island College Fine Arts Department. The gathering of research at the site of public presentation reframes the gallery presentation space as an atelier/laboratory. Considering exhibition as gathering renders the participants’ research visible and proposes ideas and art objects as being in relation to one another within a shifting narrative.
Placing emphasis on the diverse approaches to making things, by artists working in art education, highlights evolving art practices, creative strategies and critical approaches. The project was seeded as an opportunity to instigate curiosity and interaction amongst artist participants as they began to consider their artistic practice as elements in dialogue. The work continues to develop and take shape on site at CVAG during the two week installation period leading up to the opening on Thursday, April 30th.
