‘After’ is a collection of paintings by students in FIN 220: Paint Applications I that explore the ways in which artists are influenced by their predecessors. The exhibition goes beyond a comparison of imagery to look at the affinity between artists’ stylistic approach and painterly process. Taking as its focus a small group of paintings, ‘After’demonstrates the importance of the relationship between artists and the influence this has on the formation of their individual style and creative process. As it has been said – a painter always has a father and a mother; s/he doesn’t emerge out of nothing.
The students have another exhibit of other paintings in the Raven Hall Gallery at NIC from January 16th to February 6th, curated by Sarah Bergeron
