NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH + RECONCILIATION | ORANGE SHIRT DAY
CVAG will be closed on Saturday, September 30, in honour of the National Day for Truth + Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
While our doors are closed, a special video presentation will be visible in our Window + Plaza Media Gallery and the sculptural installation Stolen Sister will be visible through the window of our Hub Gallery. The ongoing program Public Space : Sacred Space is always visible at CVAG Plaza; it includes Traditional Welcome Poles, a Traditional Indigenous Full-Circle Tea Garden, and the sculptural artwork Crossroads.
We encourage you to participate in the local events happening on Saturday. The Comox Valley MIKI’SIW Métis Association and Indigenous Women’s Sharing Society have organized a Spirit Walk starting at Simms Millenium Park in Courtenay. Opening Ceremonies will take place at 11AM. Drop by anytime between 11AM – 5PM to register, receive your map, and walk.
