MARKET DAY 2025
Market Day is returning to Downtown Courtenay!
Fifth Street and Duncan Avenue will be closed to traffic, and vendors + artisans + food trucks are being brought in for everyone’s enjoyment. The stores you know and love will have promotions running to take advantage of, and a variety of entertainment acts will be performing to ensure you have a wonderful time.
This family-friendly event has been running for decades and this year we celebrate our 53rd Annual Market Day.
NOTE: We suggest leaving your pets at home, as it can get quite hot on a summer’s day; otherwise bring your family down and partake in everything Market Day has to offer!
DUNCAN AVENUE ARTS ACTIVATIONS
In addition to Fifth Street, Duncan Avenue will be closed to traffic for this year’s Market Day event. Everything outside the Comox Valley Art Gallery will be arts-focused!
Join us for free activities, including:
- Screen Printing with Wachiay Studio’s ANDY MACDOUGALL + SPECIAL GUESTS! *
- Draw Together with local artist KELLY BROZA!
- CVAG’s Make Art Station facilitated by student interns!
- “The Habitat” Chill Zone, where you can sit and relax!
- Local Poets creating custom poems for visitors!
- “Mister Scallop”, a misting station to help you beat the heat!
- Music at the CVAG Plaza stage!
And there’s even more to explore inside the gallery!
* Special Guests: Two visiting designers will be hanging out with local screen printer Andy MacDougall and slinging ink Saturday afternoon.
JARED CONNOR is an artist from the Austin Texas area, and MARK PEDINI works in Seattle, where he is a Senior Graphic Designer at Pokémon. They both are excited to visit the valley and will be creating original designs for people to print on the plaza. Paper and patch material will be available at no cost, t-shirts for $10 cash, or bring your own to print.
Both artists were featured in a recent book that commemorates the posters created for the long-running PBS show Austin City Limits, an incredible marriage of print art and music through the years. The three friends used to present panels on DIY screen printing at SXSW, and people are invited by to meet them and talk art, design, and music.
