A MAKE ART PROJECT WORKSHOP FACILITATED BY AMELIA EPP AND BRONWEN PAYERLE
WHERE: Comox Valley Art Gallery, 580 Duncan Ave.
WHEN: Saturday, October 29, 11am-3pm full workshop, or drop-in to contribute to the project in progress and experiment with materials.
FEE: Admission to the gallery and the make art project series is by donation. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Join us for this make art project workshop that will examine the physical, emotional, and aesthetic materiality within relationships of care. Through writing and the creation of abstract collagraph prints workshop participants will map their own idiosyncratic physical dynamics of care, whether for a child, parent or beloved pet. Participants taking part in the entirety of the workshop will generate text and imagery that may be used afterwards in their own creative practices. Drop-in workshop participants are also welcome and will be offered opportunities to observe the workshop in process and to experiment with the materials. The work generated during the workshop will be documented, compiled, and shared by CVAG.
BRONWEN PAYERLE AND AMELIA EPP
Artists Bronwen Payerle and Amelia Epp collaborate to explore the architectural and the domestic through installation, printmaking, collage, and textiles. In their current collaboration they are investigating the physical interactions that take place within relationships of care. In particular they are intrigued by moments of lesser and greater physical discomfit/agitation/disconcert/awkwardness that occur in the daily course of care-giving and engagement with loved ones. With humour, text, movement, and a playful use of art materials, Bronwen and Amelia seek to observe, isolate, and represent these dichotomous moments of care/discomfit. This workshop is part of their ongoing collaborative research within their ongoing artistic collaboration.
