Dada introduced a simple but revolutionary idea that art might be assembled from the material of modern life itself.
The Dadaists utilized the printed matter of culture: advertisements, magazines, newspapers and street posters. Items that represent the chaos and fragmentation of contemporary life. The dialogue of collage and print became a way to re-assemble, and re-print the absurdity of the world. This printmaking installation project and ongoing exhibit is an extended dialogue that pokes at today’s global climate, utilizing the Dada tools of satire and nonsense.
This community engagement art event and installation project is created by NIC School of Fine Art and Design & Comox Valley Printmakers Association (CVPA).
