SOLSTICE CELEBRATION — All Ages | Free Event
There will be plenty of festive activities at the Comox Valley Art Gallery on Saturday, December 21, in celebration of the Winter Solstice! We invite the community to join us for:
- Live Music
- 12:00 – 12:45pm: Corey Francis — playing an eclectic mix of Canadiana, folk + bluegrass music!
- 1:00 – 1:45pm: Caresse — an interdisciplinary artist + musician who sings original songs + plays guitar!
- 2:00 – 2:45pm: Rhea George — a singer-songwriter + wannabe cowboy with a gentle sound that captures the feeling of a rainy Sunday morning!
- Make Art Activities — drop-in anytime to make solstice lanterns + holiday cards!
- Door Prizes — gallery visitors can enter their name to win special prizes, which will be drawn at 4:00pm!*
- Complimentary Hot Apple Cider, Ginger Cookies + Oranges
- The Premiere of Witness — a new work by Ruby Singh, presented on the LED screen in CVAG’s front window!
Visitors will have a chance to view CVAG’s 50 | 20 Retrospective + Art Faire 2024 before they both conclude on Monday, December 23. Explore memorabilia, works from CVAG’s permanent collection, and other digital presentations to learn about the gallery’s history — and get some last-minute holiday shopping done by browsing the one-of-a-kind creations for sale by 30+ talented, regional artisans!
Saturday is also an opportunity for Pinhole Camera Project participants to return cameras (anytime between 10:00am – 5:00pm).* From solstice to solstice, you have gathered the sunlight in your tiny cameras. Click here for instructions for safely taking down your cameras.
* Door Prize winners and Pinhole Camera Project participants can also pick up their prizes and return their cameras during CVAG’s special holiday hours:
Sunday, December 22, between 12:00 – 5:00pm
Monday, December 23, between 10:00am – 4:00pm
