Constant Change: ART OPENING / ARTIST TALK / PUBLIC RECEPTION

April 6 2019 / 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Calling All Robots – join us at the gallery for an afternoon of inspiration and celebration.

The community is invited to the opening of Constant Change, a thematic program that highlights creatives engaged with high and low technology in their lives, work, education and practices. The event presents a solo exhibition of work by artist Heather Koning, a Spaces VR sponsored artist residency, and the arts-based and technology experiments created by students of the SD71 NIDES ENTER + ENTER 2 programs.

Following welcoming words at 1 pm, artist Heather Koning will speak about her exhibition including Seeing Through Technology and AT WILL (interactive). Matt Adamson, owner of Spaces VR (Courtenay), along with Angela Bedard / Cassidy Gehmlich / Clive Powsey / Emma Heitzmann / Roxanne Fortin (artists participating in the creative residency explorations of virtual reality programs) will be on site to share ideas and hands-on experiences of VR projects underway. School District 71 NIDES ENTER + E2 students and educators will demonstrate interactive robot displays, VEX IQ and Sumobot courts, 3D printers and bucket loads of enthusiasm.

A reception will follow, offering the opportunity to view the exhibition and to speak directly with the artists and collaborative partners about their work and creative process.
