WAM: Winter Art Market

December 1 2018 / 12:00pm - December 26 2018 / 5:00pm

Join us for our 44th Winter Art Market featuring handmade art + artful things by over 50 regional makers. We will kick off the Market during Courtenay’s Moonlight and Magic Festivities on November 23rd from 4-9pm. This event celebrates the artwork of Cheryl Jacobs (silversmith/jeweller), Dale Rouleau (fine woodworker) and Alan Burgess (ceramicist). Geek out with Julian Rendell (director of the Comox Valley Makerspace) on sensors and projection technologies. View demonstrations of casting materials sponsored by Industrial Plastics and Paints. Make your own art-buttons to wear for the holidays or give away to friends. Drop by during the week of Nov 24-30 as the Winter Art Market (formerly the Christmas Craft Fair) takes shape, with new product daily.

On December 1st CVAG will host a launch celebration of festivities with the first in a series of Community Make Art Projects from 11am-3pm. We will be serving up a celebration cake and hot drinks from 12-2pm. Come out and see treasure troves of awesomeness – made even more awesome by the friendly CVAG staff, volunteers and community.

Saturdays at the Art Market are special days, featuring an array of hands-on free make-art stations to get your creative and gift-giving juices flowing. Community Make-Art Project themes include:

DEC 1: HONOURING THE LIGHT – lantern making + artful transparencies.

DEC 8: DIGITAL DRESS UP – staged portraits with costumes + props = take home digital image and prints.

DEC 15: THE GOLD BUILD – join us to imagine and create space and place using an enormous amount of gold stuff.

DEC 22: PRINTED MATTER: CARDS + HANDMADE BOOKS – create, collage, print and gift your art.
