MMIWG2S+ AWARENESS EVENT
Please join us in wearing red and attending the community event for Red Dress Day 2025.
The event will include speakers, a walk, community education, and more from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Everyone is invited to learn about, remember, and honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ people and their families.
Meet at the Florence Filberg Centre (411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay) at 1:00pm for the opening ceremony, followed by the start of the walk.
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS AT CVAG
The MMIWG2S+ awareness walk will lead attendees through Downtown Courtenay and past the Comox Valley Art Gallery, where there will be two special, outward-facing presentations visible all day to passersby.
Bury Me in Red, a video created by Youth Media Project participant Brandon Gane in 2020, will be presented on the LED screen in CVAG’s Window + Plaza Media Gallery. There will be seats on the CVAG Plaza for viewers to sit and watch.
Stolen Sister | The Métis — created by Gwen Monnet in 2023 and previously presented at CVAG as part of a larger, ongoing project — will also be on display in CVAG’s front entrance window.
