Join or April 30th for the opening of our thematic program, Emergent Practice, with the NIC/ECUAD Graduating Students exhibition Phenomenology. The opening will begin with an artist talk at 1pm, followed by a reception at 2pm.
Emergent Practice highlights diverse arts-based curriculum and research modalities being explored by emerging artists, early learners, contemporary arts centres and educators.Emergent Practice is comprised of a group exhibition entitled Phenomenology featuring North Island College ECUAD External BFA graduates, including: Kelly Davidson, Lori Kenney, Anita Lawrence, Denise Lawson, Jeanne MacGrotty, Frances Semple, Trish Smith). The show links the diverse practice of these emerging artists through their arts-based research centred on phenomenology, a philosophical study of how one experiences, perceives and interprets events and their relationship to them. Concurrent with this exhibition, local Early Learning Centres will present the work of their students in CVAG’s Community Space, Emergent Early Learners, with a focus on the connectivity of art and daily life. Emergent Practice opening event is preceeded by our Make Art Saturday drop-in program from 11am-1pm.
