Make Art Project Workshop: Extracting Narratives

January 21 2017 / 11:00am - 3:00pm

Join us for this MAKE ART EVENT that offers an opportunity to explore relationships between culture and nature. Artists Jeroen Witvliet and Neil McClelland will lead participants on a walk into the world that surrounds the gallery and then back to their exhibtion to spend time with the imaginary places comprising their paintings. Moments will be taken along the walk to record encounters and images in journals provided. Observed and journaled fragments will be extracted as source material for creating images that explore relationships with place and time. Workshop participants will be invited to make images in a collaborative way, creating hybrid narratives as a means of encountering ourselves within changing landscapes. The process will involve loose mark-making and layering on large sheets of paper.  The results of the workshop will be displayed, documented and shared in CVAG’s newly renovated studio space. For more information please call 250 338 6211 or email info@comoxvalleyartgallery.com

Artists Jeroen Witvliet and Neil McCelland make paintings that “invite viewers to construct meaning, to explore the in-between space between the separate elements within the paintings and between the paintings in the gallery space.” This make art event offers participants an opportunity to engage in this inquiry

Fee: Admission to the gallery and make art events are by donation. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Materials are provided. For more information please call 250 338 6211 or email info@comoxvalleyartgallery.com
